Consider the Consequences: Life Principle of Common Sense
Consider the Consequences: Life Principle of Common Sense
Consider the Consequences is a children's book with full-page color illustrations. The story takes readers through an afternoon with Ombra. It is a disastrous afternoon because Ombra never stops to think what might happen as a result of her actions. She doesn’t exercise common sense. Ombra’s sister, Della, goes shopping, and when she comes home, she discovers the house is in disarray from front door to back.
It is vital that children develop the ability to understand how things work, to predict outcomes, and to exercise judgment. As young people learn that all actions have consequences, then they can begin to make choices that lead to beneficial outcomes rather than proceeding blindly and ending up with as many calamities as Ombra. They will be practicing the life principle of common sense.
The book includes supplement pages for use by teachers and parents featuring quotations, enriched vocabulary from the text of the story, subject/content area integration points, critical thinking questions, and writing/storytelling prompts.
